The Hutsonville, Illinois community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Ryder Keith Terry, a fifth-grade student at Hutsonville Grade School, who passed away on July 25, 2026, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana. His unexpected passing has left family, friends, classmates, teammates, and neighbors grieving the loss of a young life filled with joy, kindness, and endless potential.
Born on October 5, 2015, to Ryan and Tierra Terry, Ryder brought energy, laughter, and love into the lives of everyone around him. He was remembered as a bright, compassionate child whose smile could light up any room.
Ryder loved being outdoors and staying active. He shared adventures riding dirt bikes with his dad and brothers, and he embraced the thrill of motocross racing before discovering his greatest passion—baseball. As a member of the Legends travel team from Marshall, he played with determination and enthusiasm, excelling as a pitcher, shortstop, and catcher. His dedication to practice and improvement reflected his drive to be the best version of himself.
His love for sports extended beyond baseball. Ryder played football, creating a cherished memory during his first game when he scored a long touchdown and celebrated with a joyful dance. He also enjoyed basketball, always cheering for his teammates as much as himself.
Beyond athletics, Ryder was admired for his character. Teachers remembered him as a caring, respectful student with a playful personality and sharp sense of humor. His ability to make others laugh and feel valued was among the many qualities that made him special.
At home, Ryder shared a close bond with his younger brothers, Raiden and Tripp. Together, they explored the woods, played games, and staged wrestling matches inspired by WWE. Ryder was not only their brother but also their protector and biggest supporter.
His interests included drawing, coloring—especially pictures of the Titanic—and collecting Pokémon cards. Most importantly, Ryder’s faith was central to his life. He loved Jesus and worshipped with his family at West Union Christian Church, where his loved ones find comfort in believing he is now at peace.
Ryder is survived by his parents, Ryan and Tierra Terry; his brothers, Raiden and Tripp; grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, teammates, and friends.
