John Bell Obituary, Cause of Death – Pensioner Dies After Stolen Maserati Crashes in Broughty Ferry

The Broughty Ferry community is mourning the tragic death of John Bell, a 74-year-old pensioner who was killed after a stolen Maserati Quattroporte crashed into a residential garden where he was helping a neighbour.

The incident unfolded when Fraser Garden, 55, allegedly stole the high-powered sports car from a local showroom and drove recklessly through residential streets at speeds exceeding 80 mph. During what a judge later described as an “appalling episode of driving,” he reportedly ran a red light, drove on the wrong side of the road, and overtook vehicles into oncoming traffic.

The reckless journey ended when the Maserati clipped a kerb, struck a traffic island, and smashed through a hedge into a garden. John Bell, who was assisting a neighbour at the time, was struck by the vehicle. Despite emergency response efforts, he sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Mr. Bell’s sudden and tragic death has left his family, friends, and neighbours heartbroken. He is remembered as a kind and helpful man whose life was cut short while performing a simple act of kindness. The case has drawn widespread attention due to the extreme nature of the driving and the devastating consequences that followed.

Heartfelt condolences are extended to John Bell’s family, friends, and all who are mourning his loss. May they find comfort in cherished memories and strength during this difficult time.

🕊️ May John Bell rest in eternal peace.
