Dr. Courtney Shah Obituary, Cause of Death – Longview Community Mourns 49-Year-Old
We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Dr. Courtney Shah, beloved History instructor and cherished member of the Longview Community College family. On July 22, 2026, Courtney left us peacefully at home after courageously battling brain cancer.
Courtney’s influence at LCC and throughout Longview was extraordinary. She had a rare talent for making history come alive, igniting curiosity and passion in every student she taught. Her classroom was a place where every voice mattered, and her warmth and humor made learning unforgettable.
Outside the classroom, Courtney’s love for community shone brightly. Whether leading spirited trivia nights or sparking meaningful conversations through the Community Conversations series, she brought people together and inspired authentic connections.
In 2025, a student nomination for Faculty of the Year captured what so many felt: Courtney’s brilliance, kindness, and respect for others changed lives. Her legacy of compassion, curiosity, and community will continue to guide and inspire all who knew her.
Beyond her professional achievements, Courtney will be remembered as a devoted family member, friend, and mentor. Her courage in the face of illness and her unwavering dedication to others remain a powerful example of strength and grace.
A service to remember Courtney will be held on Monday, August 10, from 1:00 to 3:30 pm in the Rose Center for the Arts at LCC. Family, friends, colleagues, and students are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of her remarkable life.
Dr. Courtney Shah’s passing leaves an immeasurable void, but her legacy of education, compassion, and community will endure. She will be remembered not only for her brilliance as an educator but for the love and kindness she shared with all who had the privilege of knowing her.
